Maths Lead Practitioner

  • Contract: permanent
  • Salary: £60,122, L8 (Outer London)

We are looking for an exceptional teacher and inspirational leader to work with our Head of Maths to advance the department through rapid progress and meet our high academic expectations. The role sits within our Extended Leadership Team and therefore offers the opportunity for career development via additional whole school responsibility and involvement.

Teaching maths from years 7 to 13, the successful applicant is expected to be an enthusiastic and dynamic teacher, able to lead with assurance and provide clarity on teaching, pedagogy and innovation within mathematics. It's further expected that they will be passionate about their work and strongly motivated to become an active part of our diverse community.

We would love to hear from qualified teachers with excellent leadership and coaching skills gained in a management role (e.g. deputy head of department) who are experienced at teaching maths up to and including key stage 5.

Norbury High School for Girls is an over-subscribed 11-19 girls’ school. Provisional data (Oct 2019) ranks us "well above average" nationally for student progress and very positively within the London Borough of Croydon. We were voted Best Secondary School in Croydon in 2019. 

The school has a supportive induction programme for all new staff and is committed to continuing professional development. Experienced staff are able to join our middle leadership and senior leadership training programmes and many of our teaching staff choose to enrol on our subsidised school-based MA programme that is run in conjunction with  St Mary's University.

The school is a member of PiXL. We share expertise and resources with Kensington Avenue Primary School, a fellow academy overseen by The Manor Trust.

The school operates an optional health care plan in partnership with Simply Health and a salary sacrifice cycle purchase scheme. Our teaching staff are employed in line with the Department for Education's School teachers' pay and conditions document and our support staff are eligible to join the Local Government Pension Scheme.
