Norbury High School for Girls

Pastoral Programme

At Norbury High School for Girls, our sixth form pastoral programme is a thoughtfully structured weekly schedule that supports students’ personal development, emotional wellbeing and professional readiness. Delivered during morning form time and via assemblies, the programme complements the academic journey in line with the values of our school and is supported by our fantastic tutor team.

Each week is split into tutor-led sessions comprised of tailored content designed to inspire, inform and engage. An example of a typical week follows.

  • Monday: whole school or sixth form assemblies focused on collective reflection
  • Tuesday: our 'Highlight' programme featuring guidance on building independent study habits, time management and other skills
  • Wednesday: 'Showcase' programme featuring careers education and university prep, helping students explore post-18 pathways
  • Thursday: 'Explore' programme in partnership with PiXL and TED Talks, considering topics such as resilience, leadership, ethics and mindset
  • Friday: book club or current affairs slot offering cultural enrichment through literary works and media to encourage deeper thinking and discussion

Additional support and tutor conferencing

Personalised tutor conferencing follows academic review points and helps identify and address barriers to progress. These conversations are an integral part of the pastoral journey at Norbury High.
