University Applications

Applying to university and unlocking opportunities

We are committed to ensuring that every student who so wishes can access higher education, regardless of circumstances. Applying to university via the Universities and Colleges Admissions Service (UCAS) can seem daunting but with the right support and guidance led by our sixth form heads of year the path becomes much clearer.

We are proud to offer a strong and supportive process across year 12 and into year 13.

During year 12, students...

  • Visit St Mary's University where they take a look around and experience masterclasses from real students on university life, successful applications and student finance

  • Work with the ‘Be Bold with Gold’ programme from Goldsmiths University of London to ensure they are well grounded in university life
  • Complete a 10-week fully resourced and supported taught course in partnership with Unifrog and form tutors that's designed to guide them through the university application process step-by-step, covering everything from choosing courses and universities to crafting personal statements and prepping for interviews (importantly, alternative courses, pathways and opportunities including apprenticeships, gap years and volunteering are also covered to ensure students have a complete offer)

Across the application window in year 13, students…

  • Begin the year fully equipped with what they need to apply to university and/or other opportunities
  • Receive ongoing support to help manage their individual applications
