New Maths Coaching Programme Launched

Positive impacts from new partnership
The Maths Department at Norbury High School for Girls recently partnered with CoachBright to introduce peer-to-peer coaching.
CoachBright are training fifteen of our year 10 students to coach an equal number of year 7s in maths, helping them develop their subject knowledge, confidence and metacognition.
The programme is delivered by a CoachBright Programme Manager who attends each stage in-person to facilitate alongside members of the Mathematics Department. CoachBright provides resources for the school coordinator and coaches to implement the peer-to-peer programme, including support to match suitable pairs.
The programme will run for 10 hours of one-to-one coaching (60 minutes per week for
10 weeks). Year 10 coaches will be able to develop skills which can enable them to be awarded with
Student Leadership Accreditation; CoachBright works in association with the School,
Students and Teachers network (SSAT).
Responses from the students involved were very positive and included the comments: "My coach explained the things that I didn't understand" and "I learnt how to do division and adding within fractions".
