Sophia Starr and a Dog to Love writer speaks to students about her work

Author Sarah Lipman visited Norbury High School for Girls on Thursday 13th November to speak to students about her new book, Sophia Starr and a Dog to Love.

Our year 7s were fascinated by the story of Sophia, whose parents finally agree to allow her to look after other people's pets so she can prove she's ready to care for a dog of her own, but who soon discovers things are not going to be as straightforward as she thought.

"A heartwarming, tail-wagging story about growing up, standing strong and chasing dreams - even when things get tough."

Sarah lives in London with her husband, her two daughters and her pet tortoise, Lassie. She has had a keen love for dogs ever since, as a child growing up in Florida, she persuaded her mum to let her look after her tennis coach’s pet (half greyhound/half pit bull).

Sarah has hosted various dogs over the past few years; these experiences, along with joyful memories of stories she was told as a child, helped spawn the idea for her first book.
