Extreme Heat: School to Finish at 13:15 Weds & Thurs
Early school closure and event postponements due to hot weather
As a consequence of Met Office warnings that temperatures are set to rise to 38°C/39°C by 14:00 on Wednesday and Thursday this week a decision has been taken to close the school early at 13:15 on both Wednesday 24th June and Thursday 25th June.
This early dismissal will allow students to get some lunch at school and give them enough time to travel home safely before the peak temperatures of the afternoon.
Please note the following important arrangements resulting from this change:
-
Remote learning: work will be set online for all students for periods 5 and 6; students are expected to complete these lessons at home
-
Summer Performing Arts Evening: this event has been postponed and will now take place at a future date yet to be confirmed
-
Year 10 Spanish and French midterm exams: these assessments have also been rescheduled to Tuesday 30th June 2026
Thank you for your continued support, understanding and cooperation as we adapt to these extreme weather conditions. Please ensure your child stays hydrated and takes all necessary precautions during their journey home in addition to the uniform amendments outlined in Mrs Hayden's recent communication.
